Implementation of Digital Signature

ACFI organized an Awareness Program on Implementation of Digital Signature by Customs in the processing of Import/ Export Cargo on 24th Apr’2015.

An awareness program on the Implementation of Digital Signature by Customs in the processing of Import/ Export Cargo was organized by ACFI for its members on 24 Apr 2015 at 1100 hrs. in the DIAL Auditorium at New Udaan Bhawan, Opp. T3, IGI Airport New Delhi.

With the request of ACFI Mr. Bashistha Prasad, Addl. Director, Customs Systems, gave the detailed presentation on the subject to the ACFI Members. 72 members from the air cargo logistics trade attended this awareness training program and took the benefits of the presentation and Questions & Answers session on the subject. The salient features of the presentation are as under:

i.    The implementation of Digital Signature has been launched for the general public w.e.f. 1st Apr’2015 but optional and made mandatory to all ACP importers w.e.f. 1st May’ 2015

ii.   Under the first phase the facility of using digital signature shall be used by the individual Importers, Exporters, Customs Brokers, Airlines, or their agents who may file Bills Of Entry, Shipping Bills, IGM/ EGM & CGM through Remote EDI System (RES).

iii.  Under the 2nd Phase the Customs Custodians other organizations shall be able to use digital signature for the documents being exchanged by them with Customs.

iv.  The authorized persons of these agencies having G or F card will be able to use digital signature while filing papers with Customs.

Several questions were raised by members present and the same were answered by Mr. Bashistha Prasad up to the satisfaction of the members. President ACFI Mr Pradeep Panicker presented a memento to Mr. Bashistha Prasad on behalf of all ACFI members & others invited for this program.
