Virtual Farewell to Ms. Vandana Aggarwal

Ms. Vandana Aggarwal, Senior Economic Advisor, Ministry of Civil Aviation, on attaining the age of superannuation has retired from the services of Government of India on 31st May 2021. The air cargo industry is well aware of her valuable contribution and support to the Air Cargo Industry ever since she joined MoCA as Economic Advisor. ACFI along with the members of other cargo associations had wonderful associations and deliberations with Ms. Vandana Aggarwal on various issues which were accomplished successfully for the benefit of the air cargo fraternity.

ACFI in recognition of her valuable contributions to the air cargo industry had organized a virtual farewell to Ms. Vandana Aggarwal on 27th May 2021, which was attended by more than 65 Participants from Air Cargo logistics industry including the Office Bearers of other associations of cargo industry i.e. ACAAI, FFFAI, ACHAI, AMTOI, BAR India Cargo, Etc.

The farewell program was excellently conducted by Mr. Arvind Aggarwal the Chairman of ACFI Task Pillar on Event Management. Mr. Yashpal Sharma Vice President ACFI in his opening remarks set the tone of the program and there after one by one many speakers came forward speaking very high about Ms. Vandana Aggarwal and her contributions to the air cargo logistics industry during her tenure as Economic Advisor MoCA and particularly during the difficult period of COVID pandemic.

A two minute video made by ACFI was displayed on the various moments of association and participations of Ms. Vandana Aggarwal in the past several events like ACFI Annual Event, ACFI Skill development training programs and meetings organized by ACFI with her on the cargo logistics issues.

Mr. Cyrus Katgara President ACFI on behalf of ACFI Board members and the members of ACFI and the entire air cargo fraternity, welcomed and thanked Ms. Vandana Aggarwal for sparing her valuable time and gracing the occasion. He said that the air cargo logistics industry will always remember the support and contributions of Ms. Vandana Aggarwal to air cargo industry and remain grateful to her. He also thanked the office bearers of other cargo associations for accepting the invitation of ACFI to become part of this farewell program and gracing the occasion. Mr. Cyrus after his welcome address presented (virtual) the ACFI memento a ‘Cristal Plaque’ to Vandana Ji in appreciation to her contributions & support given to air cargo logistics industry and a symbol of our memory & respect.

Though many members wanted to speak on this occasion but due to time constraint, only Mr. Sunil Arora, President ACAAI, Mr. AV Vijayakumar, Chairman FFFAI, Mr. Shantanu Bhadkamkar, President AMTOI, Mr. Vipul Bhalla, Chairman BAR India Cargo (NR), Mr. Tushar Jani, Past President ACFI & President ACHAI and Mr. Manoj Singh Senior Vice President & Head – Cargo & Express from MIAL could avail a chance to speak on this occasion.

Ms. Vandana in her thanks giving speech before the industry members present, expressed that she is honored and privileged by this overwhelming family feelings expressed by the leaders of the air cargo logistics industry about her and thanked Mr. Cyrus Katgara, President ACFI and his team members for organizing such a wonderful & memorable event on her retirement. She said that cargo has been very close to her heart & mind as it always gave her a family feeling whenever she used to deliberate issues on cargo with the members of air cargo fraternity. She said that out of her many assignments/ responsibilities in the government, like in WTO, Cabinet Secretariat, Planning Commission etc., Civil Aviation has been very challenging particularly during this COVID pandemic and most satisfying for her as many challenging tasks were accomplished with the overwhelming support of the stakeholders including the air cargo logistics industry for which I will remain thankful. Finally she mentioned about some of the issues remained unfinished projects like NACCS and Skilling in aviation industry which will be taken care by her successor. She said that the Indian Aviation Industry including air cargo shall improve day by day with the capabilities of its human resources who should be looked after as the human endeavor always succeeds & the aviation industry will rise up to the expectations of the industry users. With these words of wisdom she concluded her speech and thanked once again with her best wishes to all.

Mr. Sanjiv Edward, Hon. Secretary ACFI proposed the vote of thanks to Ms. Vandana Aggarwal, Senior Economic Advisor, MoCA for giving ACFI this important opportunity to give her virtual farewell along with the office bearers of other associations of cargo logistics industry. He thanked all the members of ACFI for their presence. Mr. Sanjiv thanked Mr. Arvind Aggarwal Chairman ACFI Task Pillar on Event Management and the Patron Mr. Yashpal Sharma for their skill fully organizing this memorable event.
